Do it because it's your PASSION not for money.

As I was looking through the list of blogs and website that we could review and read more about I came across the website https://bothsidesofthetable.com and I decided to read the article “One Simple Way You Can Make an Actual Difference in Somebody’s Life” by Mark Suster. The link to the blog is the following https://bothsidesofthetable.com/one-simple-way-you-can-make-an-actual-difference-in-somebodys-life-8a94a9e664bd and there was a short video included that really touched my heart. It was about student that are homeless or come from foster care and are moving to college by themselves. There is a program called Renaissance scholars that helps those students by providing them with materials to help them feel at home. Most of these students did not have a place to call home and I think this program really is a great support system for them.

After watching the video it made me realize that having a business is not all about the money it really is about passion. Being able to help others is what is more important and will bring an even greater reward than money will ever bring.

An update on my $100 challenge is that it has been looking good this past week and I was able to ge more appointments scheduled even with the weather. I am very excited to work on all these projects and it really has been fun learning how to run my small business.

Be Careful With Pride!

In the talk by Elder Tom Perry “United in building the Kingdom of God” I really like how he talks about the second chapter in the book of Jacob and how it explains we should be careful of being prideful. He explained how the people who had riches felt like they were more than those who did not have much. Jacob asked those people to turn their hearts to the lord and not the material things and I think this is a great life lesson. Whenever we are blessed with riches it can be so easy to turn away from the Lord because we think we have it all. In reality we must use those blessing and helps those who are in need. The Lord does not give us these blessing to feel higher and better than others, but to help one another.

This past week I was able to squeeze in two more photo shoots that were about 30 minutes long. We did not have much time as the weather was 123 degrees and it was difficult to stay outside for long periods of time. I have finished the first set of photo shoots this past week and have started to edit the ones from this week. I have had to start looking for locations where I can take pictures inside to get more customers and convince them the pictures will still look pretty.

"Don't always go for the obvious one"

In the video “Who to Hire” by Guy Kawasaki he explains that we do not have to only look at people’s resume and only hire those that qualify, but those who love the product as well. He explains that he was a law school dropout and was counting diamonds for a living, but was able to be successful in Macintosh software because he loved the product so much. Kawasaki even said that is was a “religious experience” and loved working for them. It doesn’t matter if they have degrees from the best schools or have a lot of degrees what really matters are their motivation to work hard and be successful.

Quick update on my $100 challenge is that the scheduled photoshoot went great I was able to get some good shots and I will be focusing on editing some of the pictures this week. I hope to have them ready this week and be able to show some of the work in next week’s blog post. As of right now I do not have another photo shoot scheduled and it may due to the high temperatures currently in Arizona 104 degrees. I am still actively trying to have more appointments scheduled as the end of the course is coming up soon.
